Cheerios is back with a new ad, featuring the same interracial family from an ad from last year, in a stand against the racist backlash it received then. And this time the family is getting bigger.

In the adorable Super Bowl commercial, an African-American father uses cereal pieces to represent members of the family to explain to Gracie, his biracial daughter, that she will soon have a little brother. The obviously pregnant white mother is watching on quietly, before making a surprised face when Gracie bargains for a new puppy with another Cheerios piece, as her father agrees good-naturedly.

"Cheerios is about families and love and connections—and breakfast," Camille Gibson, vice president of marketing for Big G cereals, under General Mills told Today Money. "Our new Cheerios ad celebrates one of those special moments with a family that America fell in love with."

Last year, bigots went so hard trolling under the first Cheerios ad that featured these actors—referencing Nazis and "racial genocide"—that Cheerios made the decision to disable comments under the YouTube video of the ad, which ultimately racked up 5 million views from supporters and haters alike. However, the controversy obviously didn’t stop the brand from serving up some serious “deal with it” cards this year.
