The ever outspoken Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) appeared on MSNBC on Thursday defending Attorney General Eric Holder and the president, all while likening Obama opponents to the Ku Klux Klan.
According to Mediaite, Rangel was asked by host Chris Jansing if Holder was playing the race card when he targeted Republicans for launching "unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive" attacks on him and the president to an audience at the National Action Network Convention.
Rangel shrugged off the notion, saying that it was unrealistic to think that race wasn't a motivating factor for people who oppose the two powerful men.
"If there's anyone that believes that the color of the president is not an issue with those people who adamantly oppose them, they're not realistic," Rangel said candidly. "If you notice, whenever this group gets together against Obama, the Confederate flag is there with them."
