It's official. A House panel announced today that Rep. Maxine Waters has been charged with violating ethics rules. This latest ethics charge is setting the stage for a precarious election season for Democrats. The charges come just days after Rep. Charles Rangel was hit with 13 ethics charges. The charges against Waters, a 10-term California congresswoman, focus on whether she broke the rules in requesting federal help for a bank where her husband was a board member and owned stock. She immediately denied the charges. It's interesting that Democrats are being hit with ethics charges so close to the next election cycle. If Rep. Waters goes down, who will tell it like it is on the Hill? This just goes to show that what you are alleged to have done in the dark will come to light. Disappointed, again, over at The Root.
