(The Root) — Hip-hop fans online and off are mourning the death of Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly, one half of the rap group Kris Kross. CBS Atlanta reports that Kelly was found dead in his home of a possible drug overdose, though the official cause of death has yet to be determined.

Kelly and Chris Smith, the other half of the duo, enjoyed substantial success after being discovered by Jermaine Dupri in 1990 at ages 12 and 11 respectively. They were best known for their smash hit "Jump" and for wearing their clothes backward, starting a trend among fans. At the height of their success, they sold millions of records, had an endorsement deal with Sprite and a video game and made several TV and movie appearances. Kelly and Smith performed in a So So Def 20th Anniversary concert just two months ago.

When the news of Kelly's passing broke, celebrities took to Twitter to express their condolences.
