CeeLo Green: People Who Have Really Been Raped Remember

On Friday, CeeLo Green pleaded no contest to a felony count of providing Ecstasy to a woman in 2012. The unnamed woman accused the former The Voice judge of spiking her drink after they met at a sushi restaurant. The woman stated that the next thing she remembered was awakening in a bedroom naked, with Green in the room. She stated that she had recordings of Green apologizing and referring to the Ecstasy that was used.

According to the Review Journal, prosecutors in the case rejected a rape charge, but Green was hit with the felony drug charge instead. Green’s attorney, Blair Berk, stated that the sex was consensual but that Green did supply the woman with the drug.

A Los Angeles judge sentenced Green to three years’ formal probation and 45 days’ community service. In addition to the sentence, Green has to undergo drug and alcohol counseling. His no-contest plea cannot be used against him if a civil case is filed against him.

Now, you’d think, with his legal troubles somewhat behind him, Green would stay mum about the situation. Well, that wasn’t the case over the weekend.

Green took to his Twitter account and posted several questionable tweets in regards to rape. Those tweets, although quickly deleted, were, of course, screenshot. Because nothing is ever deleted on the Internet.

The singer tweeted, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”

“If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent,” he added.

His series of tweets set the social media site on fire. Men and women put Green in his place and wondered what the hell his problem was:

But that wasn’t the last of Green’s tweeting. On Monday, Green returned to defend himself and to apologize. Green tweeted from his now-deleted account:

Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context. I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it.. was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.

Green’s attempts to remove the fat foot he inserted into his mouth didn’t remove the fact that he drugged a woman. Or that he then tried to redefine the term “rape.” You’d think that a man who has daughters would know better. You’d think that a man who just copped a plea deal in a case involving rape would keep his mouth shut.

Sorry, but Green, you failed. For the record, drugging women and then admitting to it isn’t going to garner you any new fans. Second, rape is rape, whether or not the person remembers it and whether she’s unconscious or coherent.
