Despite his public scandals, Will Smith is still one of the most liked entertainers in the world. Maybe it’s because we grew up with his music? Or perhaps it’s the enduring love for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Or it could be that he seems like a nice guy? Whatever the reason, the Oscar winner is the celeb equivalent of a non-stick pan. The controversy just slides right off.

One of those controversies came up recently when a former employee claimed to witness Smith having sex with actor Duane Martin. First of all, this story came from an interview with YouTuber Tasha K and the King Richard star’s former assistant Brother Bilaal. This is where I remind you that Tasha K isn’t exactly a credible source. Someone very familiar with her work had opinions on her going after the rapper/actor. Cardi B, who won a defamation lawsuit against Tasha, showed her support for Will during an Instagram Live on Wednesday.

“I don’t like what people be doing to Will Smith. I be feeling like Will Smith is very unproblematic and I feel like he got a nice heart,” she said.

I’m pretty sure there’s at least one person who thinks Will is problematic. The Invasion of Privacy rapper also explained how she feels that their shared astrological sign plays a role in the way people keep coming for them.

“Libras, we be getting tried. And then when we outburst, we outburst so fucking heavy that we become the ones in the wrong,” she said. “I feel like y’all doing that to Will Smith.”

And then she had time to seemingly throw some shade Tasha K’s direction, referencing someone who doesn’t understand how journalistic integrity works.

“I don’t like that some people never fucking change. I’m so tired of people picking on that man,” the “Bongos” artist said. “Your job as a journalist, you should be able to detect that somebody is bullshitting or not. ‘Cause anybody can say something about anybody. Look what happened to me in 2018 when a bitch—I didn’t even know her fucking name was saying that she know me. Anybody can say a fucking fake-ass story about you and people gonna fucking fake-ass believe it. So it should be your job to detect whether something is a lie or not.”

Turns out Cardi’s not wrong. After these unsubstantiated claims made headlines, Jada Pinkett Smith told The Breakfast Club that Brother Bilaal did this as a response after he and Will couldn’t come to an agreement on money he says the Men in Black star allegedly owes him. Jada also stated, “We’re gonna take legal action. Because it’s one thing to have your opinion about somebody versus just making up salacious, malicious stories.”

Tasha K has already filed for bankruptcy, but apparently she still hasn’t learned her lesson.
