While the news of Cardi B gearing up to welcome her third child should be cause for celebration, a new revelation from the “Press” rapper has some fans concerned.
Speaking in a X/Twitter Live session on Wednesday per People, the Bronx-bred rapper alluded to having a “f***ing freak accident” that left her paralyzed for days and almost made her suffer a miscarriage—though she didn’t go into much detail at the time.
In a followup Spaces session on Thursday, she opened up on exactly what happened and how she was able to get through and ensure the health of her baby in the aftermath.
Explaining how she “busted her ass” while walking down the stairs in her home, Cardi said that she tried to break her fall and ended up feeling “a weird jerk, like a pop, and I couldn’t get up really.” She said that she yelled out for her Dad for help afterwards and they got her from the stairs to a couch where she then took a nap to distract from the pain.
Rationalizing that she was carrying her baby low and that she was used to “pain” in her stomach, she said: “I noticed that I couldn’t really walk, like I was feeling pain in my, I don’t know, in the lower of my stomach. When I woke up, I couldn’t move my bottom at all. Like, just moving my feet was hurting the bottom of my stomach. I couldn’t move. I felt like paralyzed.”
After taking an ambulance to a hospital, it was there that the “W.A.P.” singer discovered she had torn a ligament in her pelvis near where her baby’s head was at and it caused her early contractions paralysis in her lower region for two days.
“I dilated and I was having contractions for every two minutes for a whole 24 hours. So they had to monitor me and I was in a lot of pain. I couldn’t move for two days straight,” she said. Cardi is doing better now thankfully.
As previously reported by The Root, this marks her third pregnancy. The news came as somewhat of a surprise to her fans as she previously announced her impending divorce from her husband and ex-Migos rapper Offset the day before.
