You know why I’m here.
At midnight ET Thursday night/early Friday morning, Cardi B dropped her debut album, Invasion of Privacy.
It immediately began trending at No. 1 on Twitter, and the listeners were not disappointed.
In case you are new here, I am the resident Cardi B stan at The Root. But even as I go up for her, I was prepared to be objective if her album failed to live up to my expectations.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen.
She had my attention at “Get Up 10,” and she drew me all the way in with “Bickenhead.” She even mentions Beyonce’s Lemonade on a song about cheating.
I haven’t skipped a song yet.
Cardi snapped, and she’s here to stay. This album proves it, and features from Migos, YG, Chance the Rapper, SZA, Kehlani and 21 Savage seal the deal.
Anyone praying for her downfall may as well focus their attention elsewhere. Not only has this hot album dropped, but she will make her debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend and be the first ever co-host on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday April 8.
It’s LIT. In fact, it’s so lit that Twitter gave the good sis her own hashtag emoji for both #InvasionOfPrivacy and #BardiGang.
Don’t take my word for it. Let my fellow Cardi fans on Twitter tell you.
Now give it a listen for yourself.
