When we first learned Cardi B was pregnant, we were told her plan was to have her baby, take six weeks off to rest and bond with her newborn, and then join Bruno Mars on his fall tour.
As of Thursday, that plan has changed.
Cardi took to Instagram Thursday night to inform her fans that she won’t be joining Mars on his tour after all. She said six weeks is not enough time for her to “recover mentally and physically.” She originally thought she would be able to take baby Kulture with her on tour, but she admits that she “underestimated this whole mommy thing.”
“As of today I’ve decided I won’t be joining Bruno on tour this fall,” Cardi wrote. “I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing.”
“Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road,” she continued. “I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby! Thank you Bruno for being so supporting and understanding.”
Look at Cardi, being a mommy!
Deciding to take off work to be with your child is always a hard choice for any woman—and women tend to be judged for making that choice unfortunately.
I personally think Cardi is doing the right thing, and I hope she has the support of everyone—including her fans—who may be very disappointed at the idea of not being able to see her on tour this fall.
Take care of your baby, Cardi. We will be here waiting for you when you are ready to return.
