A California man admitted to authorities this week that he lied about being shot by a black man, the Raw Story reports.
In an interview on Monday, Brent Thomas Posada told the Redding Police Department that he actually shot himself with a high-powered air rifle at the beginning of the month.
According to the Raw Story, it all began after a medical center reported a gunshot victim to the authorities. When questioned, Posada claimed that he was on the sidewalk when a black man came up and pointed a gun to his head. He said he pushed the assailant's arm away, but was shot in the abdomen as a result.
Posada described his shooter as a 6-foot-tall black male in his late 20s, weighing approximately 185 pounds. He even described the outfit the supposed shooter was wearing, saying he had on a black hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and black, silver-striped high-top shoes, according to the Record Search Light, Raw Story notes.
However, a quick search by the authorities showed no evidence, and his clothing and injuries did not add up. He eventually changed his story, saying that he had shot himself while at home.
It is as yet undetermined as to whether or not charges will be filed, but the case has been referred to the district attorney’s office.
