Updated Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, 6:20 p.m. EST: As if we weren’t already jelly enough, Erivo’s team reached out to let us know everyone we missed at the soiree, organized by legendary celebrity event planner Kathy Romero (who has spearheaded high-profile events such as Asahd Khaled’s birthday, Gucci Mane’s wedding and more), along with celebrity lifestyle maven (named one of Oprah’s Super Soul 100) Latham Thomas, who is a dear friend of Erivo’s and was host of the evening.

Apparently, also in attendance were Anna Wintour; Bee Shaffer; journalist and editor Hamish Bowles; actress Patina Miller; Law and Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay and husband, Youngers Peter Hermann; as well as Broadway stars and titans including Hamilton alums Leslie Odom Jr. and Jonathan Groff, Orange Is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks, theater owner Jordan Roth and Lauren Reid (chief operating officer of John Gore Organization—the leading developer, producer, distributor and marketer of Broadway theater worldwide and parent company of Broadway.com).

Yeah, we’re not jealous at all.

We also got the scoop that in addition to playing the titular role in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet, Erivo will also appear in Widows, directed by Steve McQueen and starring Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Daniel Kaluuya, Liam Neeson and others. The 20th Century Fox film will be released on Nov. 16, 2018.

Just when thought we’d recovered from the Golden Globes, here comes Insecure’s Yvonne Orji giving us epic brown and black slayage on the interwebs. One of our all-time favorite songbirds, Cynthia Erivo (pictured front and center), celebrated her 31st birthday Monday night in New York City, and from the looks of it, all of the lights were in attendance, including Orji, Empire’s Jussie Smollett, Luvvie Ajayi (judging us, as usual), Uber wunderkind Bozoma Saint John, Tika Sumpter, celebrity stylist June Ambrose and America’s Next Top Model judge emeritus Jay Manuel, among others. (And yes, we peeped that black-on-black Louis Vuitton Eye-Trunk that isn’t even available on the site. Ballers.)

Because of our own self-proclaimed fabulous lives here at The Glow Up, we’re generally not prone to party envy or #FOMO, but damn. This is the soiree we want to be invited to next year. How can we be down?
