A mom from New York City’s Brooklyn borough was arrested earlier this week after Port Authority cops said she left her two young daughters alone in a car at LaGuardia Airport for more than an hour while she went inside an airport terminal for a job interview.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities found the two girls, ages 7 and 8, sitting in the back seat of an unlocked car in the airport parking lot at around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Their mother, identified as Nidia Joseph-Delgado, had left the car running with the air conditioner on so that they would be comfortable.
The girls told the cops that they didn’t know where their mother was, but gave the cops the name of their school, where officials were able to get officers in touch with Joseph-Delgado by phone about an hour after the kids were found.
Joseph-Delgado was inside a terminal at the airport in the middle of a job interview at the time.
The mother told the cops that her kids “were fine” alone in the car, according to the Daily News. Nonetheless, officers charged her with two misdemeanor counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child.
