WNBA star Brittney Griner was the victim of a knife attack in China but only received a minor injury, according to the Associated Press.
Griner’s agent, Linsday Kagawa Colas, says her client received a small cut on her arm as her team was leaving practice on Monday. Colas also stated that Griner’s teammate was stabbed, too, but was saved by the two jackets she was wearing. Police eventually captured the assailant, but they have no information about what provoked the attack.
Griner took to Instagram to let her fans know that she was OK:
In addition to playing with the Phoenix Mercury, Griner also plays in China. This is her second season there and her first with the Beijing Great Wall team.
