After spending over six years as British Vogue’s first Black and gay editor, Edward Enninful is going out with a bang. We just got a glimpse of his star-studded final cover, which features some of the most influential women in music, movies, television and more.

The March 2024 issue, dubbed “The Ultimate Fashion Issue,” features a bevy of beauties, including Iman, Naomi Campbell, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Laverne Cox and Cynthia Erivo, to name a few. And if that wasn’t enough Black Girl Magic, legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath was in charge of all things makeup for the shoot.

In his time at British Vogue, Enninful has made it his mission to include diversity in front of and behind the camera, hiring Black photographers for cover shoots and producing a 2019 issue dedicated to women over 50. But he shocked the fashion world when he announced his plans to step down from his post over the summer. Although the March 2024 issue is his last as British Vogue’s EIC, Enninful will stay on at publisher Condé Nast in an advisory role.

Chioma Nnadi, American Vogue’s former digital editor, will take over has Head of Editorial Content for British Vogue, making her the first Black woman to hold the position.

In his last letter, Enninful acknowledged the impact women have had on his life and the magazine:

“Women have shaped British Vogue for close to 108 years now, and have certainly informed every moment of my six and a half year tenure here, to say nothing of leading and guiding me through my entire life,” he wrote. “It was clear to all of us on the team that no one woman could or should encapsulate these past few years for the magazine. What we needed was a group, to lean into the power of the collective to bring to life what I hope has been a daring, disruptive and evolutionary period in Vogue’s history.”

And with so much star power together in one amazing place, Enninful hinted that at least some of the conversation was about world domination.

“Camaraderie, hugs, industry war tales, anecdotes, laughter: what struck me most about our time together was, despite the fact that I’ve known many of these women since I myself was a baby stylist in my teens, and have enjoyed their support and generosity for many decades now, how future-facing our conversations were. As ever, we’re always plotting for a better world,” he wrote.
