Clearly, we need to remind Edward Enninful of our address. On Saturday, Oct. 20, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue hosted a dinner for filmmaker Spike Lee in London, in honor of the BlacKkKlansman director “who has given so much to the creative industry over the three-and-a-half decades he has been working within it,” as written on the magazine’s website.
Based on the guest list, it was a study in black excellence: Dave Chappelle, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Riz Ahmed, Michaela Coel, supermodel Leomie Anderson, author Salman Rushdie, artist Theaster Gates, designers Ozwald Boateng and Duro Olowu and architect David Adjaye were all in attendance at Notting Hill’s Laylow. You can see all the black beauty on British Vogue’s site, but frankly, we’re just jealous we couldn’t score a seat at the table.
How can we be down? We have no idea—but we’re living vicariously, over on this side of the pond.
