Conversation has swirled around Time magazine's cover featuring Jamie Lynne Grumet breast-feeding her 3-year-old son, who's standing beside her on a chair. The 26-year-old mother of two defended her child-rearing practices, along with being the face of attachment parenting, on the Today show on Friday, according to the United Kingdom's Daily Mail.
Grumet also explained that she has nursed her other son, Samuel, whom she and her husband adopted from Ethiopia in November 2010, to form a maternal bond.
The Daily Mail reports:
Samuel was breastfed by his new mother instantly. He is latched to her breast 'maybe once a month.'
Ms Grumet said: 'Being able to give him that [comfort] with the trauma that he faced was really, really important to me. I didn't realise how much it would help my attachment to him.
'When his English improved, because the connection was there, he didn't do it as much.'
