Congrats are in order for Jasmine Ellis Cooper of Bravo’s Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard as she has just announced her pregnancy with her husband, Silas Cooper. She took to Instagram to express her excitement, “My “mom-era” is loading and my heart is so full right now. Silas and I will be welcoming Baby Cooper February 2024!”
However, some fans are already chiming in after the news broke, and they’re not too excited for her. In the first season of Martha’s Vineyard that aired earlier this year, the Coopers were portrayed as a less-than-happy newlywed couple. Silas was constantly seen complaining to his wife about every little thing she did. She couldn’t even make him his breakfast without raising his voice or pushing his plate away due to not being satisfied with the contents.
Silas always had impossibly high expectations for his wife. He didn’t believe in her going out with her girlfriends, thinking that marriage meant she should always be available when needed. However, he would go out with the men of the house to bars without a wedding ring and accept drinks from women. In turn, Jasmine was constantly on the defense, having all of her feelings spill over and impact her relationships with her friends and castmates. She was also hooked on trying to convince other people to strive for relationships and marriage even though hers looked less than desirable.
The news of her pregnancy with a son comes months after the second season of the show wrapped filming this summer. The Coopers announced this summer that Silas, an officer in the Army, would be deployed to Poland prior to filming. That announcement gave fans a sigh of relief, hoping that they would see Jasmine loosen up and actually enjoy being around her friends without catering to her husband.
However, according to an interview with People, Jasmine revealed that she was pregnant during filming the season, “The way it plays out this season is actually really funny. Some people maybe suspected, but for the most part, I don’t think they had any idea. It’s going to be fun for the viewers to watch. I know that it’s going to be really special.” Now curiosity grows about how Jasmine will handle being pregnant and alone while on the show.
On one hand fans of the show are excited for Jasmine and wish her a healthy pregnancy, but are also nervous about her navigating what they saw as a rocky marriage and now motherhood. One user posted on X, “Her having to take care of two babies will be tough” and another typed, “Congrats to her and her alone.”
