BP's costs for the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico have increased nearly half a billion dollars in the past week, raising the oil giant's tab to just over $3 billion for work on cleaning and capping the gusher and payouts to individuals, businesses and governments. BP has continued drilling relief wells which are the best hope for plugging the blown-out well. The beleaguered company is now testing a giant new oil skimming vessel. Sorry, we don't feel sorry for them. It's the least they could do. After all, a cost of $3 billion to BP is nothing compared with the cost of this oil spill for generations to come.
