Hang on to your cleanup gear: Nearly every single worker from the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster is now dead. Last week The Root informed you that black contractors had been left out of lucrative BP oil spill cleanup opportunities. That may not be such a bad thing for black folks, since most of the people who worked on the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup are dead. Exxon studied the effects of the oil on all living creatures except humans. Critics warn that history may be repeating itself, since those working on the BP oil cleanup have developed flu-like symptoms similar to the ones that those who worked on the Exxon Valdez cleanup experienced. We suppose that black folks should have the equal opportunity to suffer like everyone else, but maybe this isn't a job that we actually want. Maybe.
