Last night, Beyoncé made a surprise pop-up appearance at the Luar fashion show in Brooklyn to support her 19-year-old nephew, Julez Smith Jr. who walked the runway. The “Alien Superstar” singer rocked a country superstar fit, featuring yet another cowboy hat, huge sunglasses, a silver, bedazzled pantsuit with matching boots, and an iridescent tote bag.
Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles was also in attendance, seeming less than happy to be caught on camera as flashes swarmed her and Bey at the show. She looked the complete opposite of her daughter, wearing an all-black blazer and leather pant combo with leather gloves.
Since the 2024 Grammy Awards, Beyoncé has been committed to her new country era. Then, during the Super Bowl, she was spotted with voluminous, Dolly Parton-esque hair, teasing fans even further amid her Verizon commercial release.
Minutes later, the internet was in a tizzy as a Western-themed teaser and two country songs “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” dropped on music streaming platforms. Bey revealed that Act II will be released on March 29, 2024. Fans and haters have given mixed opinions about Bey’s genre switch, and rapper Azealia Banks’ has accused Beyoncé of making a money grab.
She’s already received pushback from the country community as one Oklahoma radio station responded to one listener’s request for the song, “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station.”
As Beyoncé’s genre shift and country fits continue to deepen the conversation around who should and shouldn’t be allowed to dip their toes in the genre, the BeyHive has been very publicly getting their cowboy boots and hats ready for the March release of “Renaissance II.”
