Boney M Asked Not to Sing Hit Tune in Ramallah

Legendary disco group Boney M was asked not to perform one of its biggest hits, "Rivers of Babylon," at the Palestinian International Festival. The song's chorus quotes from the Book of Psalms, referring to the exiled Jewish people's yearning to return to the biblical land of Israel. The iconic group chose to play there despite a recent campaign to get international artists to boycott Israel. The Pixies and Elvis Costello, among others, have canceled concerts in Israel following pressure from pro-Palestinian groups. We're not sure why this is suprising. After all, music is political, isn't it?
