The body of a missing 7-year-old girl who was abducted from a Canton, Ga., playground last week has been found in a trash can. The tragic end to the search for Jorelys Rivera has devastated her family along with the Canton community who searched frantically for the young girl.
"My world collapsed. I couldn't believed that they robbed her from me," her father, Ricardo Galarza, told CNN affiliate WAPA in Puerto Rico.
"They destroyed my soul. They took a piece of my heart," her grandmother Wanda Ivette Rivera told the same network.
Police believe the young child was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered at her apartment complex in Canton.
The crime has shocked many. "It's so close to home. To think she was just right there at the park and from there disappeared is the scariest thing," Maria Rodriguez, a friend of the girl's mother, told CNN.
Canton police, assisted by the FBI and Georgia Bureau of Investigations, said there are currently no suspects, though they have a few leads. The girl's parents have been ruled out as suspects.
