To avoid conflict amid rising tensions, the Browns and Houstons paid respects to Bobbi Kristina separately at her wake Friday at Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta, according to the New York Daily News.

A private funeral started at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga.

Bobbi Kristina, the only daughter of singers Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, died last week, months after she was discovered facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub at her Atlanta home this year. Her grandmother, famed gospel singer Cissy Houston, and other members of the Houston family arrived first at the wake at 6 p.m.

Bobby Brown; his wife, Alicia; and his sisters, Tina and Leolah, waited in “their cars until the Houstons left before entering the funeral home to pay their respects,” the report says.

Tensions have been high between the two families since Bobbi Kristina was discovered in conditions eerily similar to her mother’s death scene. And Bobby Brown’s sister Leolah has accused “Bobbi Kristina’s aunt Pat Houston of scheming to make money off the 22-year-old’s death,” the report says.
