Blues guitarist and singer Phillip Walker has died of heart failure. Walker backed stars like Etta James and Lowell Fulson, played in Little Richard's band and toured with zydeco legend Clifton Chenier for two years. He made music for more than 50 years and was considered to be one of California's top guitarists. His last album was Going Home, which he recorded in 2007. His most recent tour was in South Africa in October 2009. He was 73.
