The same woman who accused Jay-Z and Diddy of raping her when she was 13- years-old, sat down for an interview with NBC on Friday. The woman, now a 38-year-old mom living in Alabama, calls the alleged incident “catastrophic,’’ and made some admissions that are surprising.
Let’s start from the beginning: In the civil lawsuit filed on Dec. 8, she claimed she was driven to a MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000 at a white house, which is where the alleged rape happened.
The lawsuit was first filed on October 20, with names of several celebrities redacted, though she named Diddy as a defendant.
In a move that has blown up on the internet, the lawsuit was changed to include Jay-Z, whose birth name is Shawn Carter.
On Sunday, the plaintiff revised the lawsuit stating that after she was driven to an afterparty by one of Diddy’s drivers and was given a drink that made her “lightheaded” and “woozy.”
She says eventually Jay-Z raped her while Combs and another female celebrity watched, according to NBC.
On Friday, the stakes got even higher. The woman, whose face was hidden and who claims she’s autistic, sat down with an NBC reporter, discussing more details about the alleged encounter.
“Jay-Z comes in and rapes me. At that point I was fighting trying to get away from him. He put his hand over my mouth and told me to ‘stop it, cut the sh*t’,” she stated in the interview.
There were several inconsistencies, though according to NBC News.
First, she claimed her father picked her up after the alleged sexual assault, but her father says he felt like he would remember that but he doesn’t.
The plaintiff said she spoke to Benji Madden and his brother at the afterparty. However, a representative of the Madden’s confirmed that they didn’t attend the 2000s VMAs because they were on tour in the Midwest at the time.
Diddy’s legal team also added that this is the beginning of the end of this “shameful money grab”.
Despite those mistakes, the woman says she stands by her allegations.
“I have made some mistakes. Honestly, what is the clearest is what happened to me,” she said.
Jay-Z responded to the inconsistencies of this case via Roc Nation’s X account.
“This ‘attorney’ Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in the pursuit of money and fame. This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it In court and doubled down in the press. True Justice is coming,” the statement said.
After think piece after think piece began to flood social media, The internet has gone mute in response to the inconsistencies of the case, according to Black Twitter.
“The Internet be so quiet when the facts don’t support the narrative they were pushing. Y’all owe Jay Z an apology fr,” one user on X said.
Users claim they’ve noticed the traffic of posts shifted to other topics Instead of discussing the “debunked” sexual assault claims.
“Jay-Z was #1 trending when that lady accused him. Now that she admitted to lying, not a single peep from all those accounts that were running victory laps over Jay being accused. So many people WANTED it to be true. Y’all ALL LAMES,” another user on X said.
Although NBC has pointed out some conflicting claims in the lawsuit, the plaintiff never admitted to lying.
Others have gone further to point out various blog pages have refused to report on the inconsistency updates.
“It’s kinda crazy how quick PopBase was to post the Jay Z r*pe article but it’s crickets now that the case is proving to be false right now,” an additional user on X said.
Sigh. Needless to say, this case are still developing.
