Eve has gone viral, but not for the reason you would expect. The “Let Me Blow Your Mind” rapper’s holiday celebration with her husband has got everyone talking, with photos of her with his family sparking major debate on social media.
In the photos that appeared online over the holidays, Eve is seen spending the holidays with her husband, millionaire Maximillion Cooper, and his U.K. family. The pictures include photos of Eve with Cooper, as well as one viral photo of Eve at the Christmas dinner table where she is very clearly the only Black person at a table filled with white people.
Naturally, people had some pretty strong reactions to the photos, taking to Instagram comments and social media sites like X, formerly known as Twitter, to break down their thoughts. Many in the comment section of a post with the pictures on The Shade Room’s Instagram account made the same observation: the photo resembles a scene from “Get Out,” Jordan Peele’s horror classic.
Many users on X shared similar sentiments, writing, “The picture of Eve with her white husband’s family looks like the beginning of a horror movie.” Another user wrote, “Eve ain’t got one Black relative she invited to her family dinner??? WTF?!???”
Others were nowhere near as shocked, however, asking people where they have been, as Eve has been married to Cooper for years now. One user wrote, “Eve has been married to this man since 2014, yet here y’all are in 2024 having a problem about her being around the same family dynamic for the past decade, you can’t make this shit up!!!!”
This does speak to a bigger point: Eve and Cooper have been together for over a decade at this point, first meeting in 2010 in London. Four years later, they tied the knot in Spain, and even welcomed a son, Wilde, together in 2022. So why is this viral now?
Eve has been very open about her relationships and the dynamic that interracial dating brings, often speaking publicly about it. Back in 2013, she explained in a live stream for Huffington Post, “In the beginning, I think it was tough in a sense that I was like, where does this fit in? Are we really going to be able to get each other? Because we are so different. Just being British alone, and me being American is different. But for him to be a White man with a Black woman — we definitely talked about it, I had issues about it, but we talk it out.”
Still, this could simply be a case of people just not following Eve and her personal life like that until now, explaining the pure shock coming from all corners of the web. As one user humorously pointed out, “Even Eve herself would’ve died laughing if you told her in the 90s she would eventually end up with a white billionaire.”
