Every once in a while a movie comes along that we instantly know is going to be special. That’s how we felt watching the first trailer for “One of Them Days” starring Keke Palmer and SZA.
It’s a buddy comedy about two friends who have until the end of the day to come up with their rent money, and shenanigans ensue as they try to get it or die trying. In addition to the “Nope” star and Grammy winner, the movie also features appearances from Joshua Neal (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”), “Abbott Elementary’s” Janelle James and Lil Rel Howery.
Black Twitter is buzzing with praise for the trailer, Palmer, SZA and producer Issa Rae. We don’t usually get buddy comedies like these that star Black women, so we’re already getting our tickets and picking out our outfits.
One viewer compared it to a comedy classic, writing on X, “Can’t give us a sequel to Friday so we got “one of them days” lol. I need Craig and Dae Dae to make a cameo.”
Meanwhile, another fan was feeling the same vibes, writing, “It’s giving Friday but for the girlssss can’t wait!”
Someone else is already heading to a very specific theater, posting, “oh keke palmer and sza are taking it… i will be seeing this in a BLACK theater where there will be lots of hooting and hollering.”
Another person touted their previous appearance together, writing, “I knew I was gonna see this Keke Palmer x SZA movie the moment I seen their chemistry between on SNL.”
One fan celebrated all the Black women bringing this movie to life, writing on X, “Keke Palmer and SZA produced by Issa Rae…read that again we’re so back!”
Another user shouted out the film’s producer, posting, “I’m rooting for everything Issa Rae!”
Let’s make this excitement translate into big box office numbers when “One of Them Days,” starring Keke Palmer and SZA, hits theaters Jan. 24.
