(The Root) — This weekend we were reacquainted with the mean girls of the South and we lost a good guy. Thank goodness it's just TV.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Sunday, 9 p.m. ET; Bravo)
"Babe, come on. Come on. Pay the mailman." —Gregg Leakes
"Is this strip-club Jet or regular Jet?" —Kenya Moore
"Can we have a time-out? How you do come to an audition showing your c—chie crack and your a— crack and think that's appropriate?" —Kenya Moore
Highlights: If you're anything like us, you've been tuning in to The New Normal each week, watching little snippets of NeNe Leakes until the Real Housewives of Atlanta returned for its fifth season. Last night the reality show was back and cattier than ever. Let's start with NeNe. Her ex-husband, Gregg, has been literally clawing at the door to get back in the house, and NeNe is open to working on things. Not too fast, girl, we smell a rat.
We're also introduced to former Miss USA Kenya Moore. She gets recruited to help Cynthia Bailey judge new models at an open call for Jet magazine's Black Beauty of the Week page. If you recall from last season, Cynthia founded the Bailey Agency, her own modeling agency and finishing school. During the audition, Kenya makes quite a stir when she offers her truly frank opinions about the contestants, calling one girl out for showing "c—chie crack" and not waxing her bikini line while rocking an admittedly ill-fitting swimsuit. But Cynthia shuts down that noise relatively quickly. Looks like she's finally standing up for herself.
Meanwhile, Kim and Kroi faced eviction from their leased mansion because of what she claimed were some shady-sounding dealings with her interior designer. Last but not least, Phaedra is expanding her interest in the mortuarial sciences by starting a pet-funeral business? Ohhhh … OK.
The Walking Dead (Sunday, 9 p.m. ET; AMC)
Highlights: You know it, we know it — everybody knows it: that old stereotype that in a scary movie, the black guy will kick the bucket first. Spoiler alert: That being said, T-Dog (Irone Singleton) held on for a few good seasons, but last night was his last. A zombie bit him in the shoulder while T-Dog attempted to reseal the prison courtyard gate. (Yuck.) If we could afford to pour a little liquor out during the zombie apocalypse, we would. Plus, in the incredibly emotional episode, a very pregnant Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) dies, too. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) is forced to slice Lori's belly open to deliver her baby. But Lori doesn't survive. Whew …
Also, Michonne and Andrea are still stuck in Woodbury with a governor who's getting creepier and more suspicious by the minute.
