(The Root) — After probably watching your post-Thanksgiving weight tip the scales at home, Sunday was a good night to watch more than just your figure. Real Housewife Phaedra got snagged in a lie, and Chalky from Boardwalk Empire made a very shady deal. Check out our recaps below.
Real Housewives of Atlanta (Sunday, 9 p.m. ET; Bravo)
"Apollo and Rocky, they are men, so I wouldn't expect them to understand the importance of birthdays." —Phaedra
Highlights: This week, Phaedra takes the limelight. When she's not planning her 2-year-old son's $20,000 birthday party, she's talking about Cynthia, since she apparently had better things to do. We've all been victim to an embarrassing pocket-dial or two, and this week it's Phaedra's turn, because just as she's talking about Cynthia, she butt-calls NeNe and inadvertently spills all the beans.
Boardwalk Empire (Sunday, 9 p.m. ET; HBO)
"Come round here looking for an army." —Chalky
Highlights: On Boardwalk Empire, HBO's prohibition drama set in Atlantic City, N.J., businessman Nucky Thompson is finally forced to face the bad deals he's been making up until this point when his home is attacked by a group of armed men. So whom does he run to? Chalky White, (played by Michael K. Williams) a black man he's slighted in the past by refusing to support his dream of a night club for African Americans in the city. Chalky agrees to help out Nucky, but we're not really buying it. Only time will tell how scorned Chalky really is.
Treme (Sunday, 10 p.m. ET; HBO)
"You can't blame this on faulty wiring or I left the hot plate on." —LaDonna
We all remember LaDonna's tragic story. She'd been assaulted, stalked by someone and became a victim of arson when her bar, Gigi's, was burned down.
Highlights: Well, this week, someone from her insurance company comes to assess the damage and implies that the fire could have been started by something left unattended in the kitchen. LaDonna's attacker is also taken to trial this week and gets off scot-free because of a deadlocked jury. All this is happening while LaDonna tries to organize a benefit to rebuild the bar. The benefit faces some road blocks when they realize it'll be competing with Jazz Fest.
Seems like this lady just can't catch a break.
Ep. 31 Clip: LaDonna Deals with the Aftermath
The Walking Dead (Sunday, 9 p.m. ET; AMC)
Highlights: Tough girl Michonne may be strong, but this week she takes a terrible spill. She's very badly injured and faints as a group of zombies approach. Rick saves her just in the nick of time and revives her, but the scare still lands her a comfy spot locked up in one of the jail cells.
Once she's feeling a little better, she tells everyone that Glenn and Maggie have been kidnapped and works with the group to find them. She even does some bada — sword-wielding stuff. She's unstoppable, apparently.
Meanwhile, after being tortured for a while by Merle and Martinez, who have been working for the governor, Maggie gives up the group's prison hiding spot. Damn.
