It looks like fans of the African-American superhero Black Panther might see him on the big screen some time soon. Marvel Comics has hired documentarian Mark Bailey to write the screenplay for an upcoming film. It's been quite the wait for fans of the comic to see it translated from the page to the screen.
The Black Panther first appeared in the pages of the Fantastic Four comic in 1966 and is considered the first black hero in mainstream comics. A movie version was in development at Columbia in the early 1990s with Wesley Snipes on board to star in an Indiana Jones-style adventure.
If the film finally comes to fruition, will they wait for Snipes to get out of jail? Or is there a better — and younger — actor out there to play the part? Leave your suggestions in the comments section.
