A young New York man who was on his way to a promising career in the fashion industry is now facing charges in connection with the murder of a man in the Bronx.

Dynus Saxon, a 20-year-old model who has appeared in Vogue Italia as well as campaigns for top brands, including Calvin Klein and Levi’s, was arrested on November 11 and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 35-year-old Kadeem Grant.

Although not much is known at this time about the connection between the two men or the circumstances that led to Grant’s death, neighbors say they heard a fight happening in the hallway of a Bronx apartment building on the afternoon of November 10 and called the police, according to the New York Daily News.

By the time officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Grant’s body inside an apartment with a knife “lodged in his chest” as well as cuts on his hands and feet.

Saxon’s mother told the New York Daily News her son didn’t remember much about the two men’s final encounter but that she believes there is a lot more to the story.

‘I don’t know what happened, but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it. Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody,” she said. “Dynus will protect himself, he’s a human being, you know what I’m saying. He’s young. I don’t know what kind of situation he had got himself into.”

Meanwhile, Grant’s family is trying to cope with their loss of their loved one and care for the daughter he left behind.

“He was just a loving kid who was there for his family and his daughter. It’s just so sad that she has to grow up without a father,” Christopher Grant, the victim’s father told the Daily News.
