As his term comes to an end, President Joe Biden is making headlines with his decisions on pardons and clemency. The latest announcement involves a name familiar to viewers of Starz’s “BMF.”

According to 11 Alive, Black Mafia Family co-founder Terry “Southwest T” Flenory has been granted clemency. It’s part of a “broader initiative to pardon those who were released from prison and placed in home confinement during the coronavirus [pandemix].”

For their involvement in an international drug trafficking ring, Terry Flenory and his brother Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory were sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008. In 2020, during the pandemic, Flenory was released and ordered to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest. He reacted to the clemency news with a statement on Instagram.

“Now It’s official! @realbigmeechmom I understand you were excited, so last week you let the cat out the bag,” Flenory wrote. “It’s been a journey, but prayer and unwavering faith beyond mere human comprehension got us to this point. Never once acted in my own ability nor doing anything to anyone to help myself. So the gloves are off, the gag orders are up and all the naysayers have to suck it up. #godisgood”

In case you’ve never seen the Starz drama, “BMF” chronicles the rise of the Black Mafia Family. It’s executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and stars Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. as his father, “Big Meech,” alongside Da’Vinchi as Terry Flenory.

Back in October, “Big Meech” “was transferred to a residential reentry program in Miami” where he will serve the rest of his sentence.

This news follows President Biden’s decision to commute the federal death sentences of 37 prisoners. He’s also been encouraged by members of the House of Representatives to pardon civil rights leader Marcus Garvey.
