Over a dozen plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the petty white neighbor who blasted Dr. Yves Duroseau and his party guests with a water hose over a noise complaint. One of those plaintiffs recalled the moment she met face-to-face with the man.
Katya Dossous called the situation a “very specific, very heinous” type of attack in a statement through her attorneys, per The New York Post. Dossous said she attended the party thrown for the doctor’s sister but by the end of the night, she was sprayed down with a hose by Marcus Rosebrock after receiving a complaint about the music. Dossous said she confronted Rosebrock in a calm manner to de-escalate the situation but she was met with a “high intensity” power washing leaving her lovely outfit soaked in water.
So, where’s the hose-wielding man now? Hiding behind his lawyer and denying all claims that his actions were racially motivated. In fact, attorney Brandon Gillard suggested it was a ”false equivalency” to compare the hose-down to scenes from the Civil Rights Era, per the report.
“— an attack I believe was premeditated, deliberate and thought out with the intent to make us feel less than, like animals,” said Dossous in the statement. “Water hoses have long been used against people of color. Mr. Rosebrock chose this specific method with the intent of dehumanizing us.”
Read What Happened:
A renowned physician and his wife were enjoying their weekend celebrating a birthday when the function got interrupted after being hosed down by their white neighbor. All he had to do was ask them to turn the music down. Instead, he transported them back to the 1960s.
Dr. Yves Duroseau, the first physician in the US to take the COVID-19 vaccine and his wife, Claude, were partying in Queen’s on Sept. 17 celebrating the birthday of Duroseau’s sister, according to The Daily Mail. Among the 15 Black and brown guests was prominent music executive Rigo Morales, various lawyers and banking executives. They dined over a nine-course dinner cooked by Rocco’s Dinner Party winner Vanessa Cantave. I mean, they went all out.
However, close to 10 p.m., a woman entered Duroseau’s residence with her German Shepherd demanding he turn his music down, the report says. The doctor informed the woman the party had just begun winding down but 48-year-old Marcus Rosebrock showed up taking matters into his own hands.
Read more from The Daily Mail:
But soon after, Rosebrock, whose yard neighbors Duroseau’s, ‘took his water hose and began water hosing [the guests] in the Duroseau’s backyard to get them to disperse’, according to the suit. The suit alleges Rosebrock increased the pressure of the hose during the alleged attack so that it was ‘extremely powerful and stinging in nature’.
Rosebrock allegedly subjected the group to a prolonged attack until they were ‘completely drenched.
Police were called and two NYPD officers responded to take a report, but there has been ‘no follow-up since then, even though this incident should be investigated as a hate crime’, according to Derek Sells, a lawyer representing the group.
It’s unconfirmed, of course, if the random woman and Rosebrock had racist intentions behind the taunts. However, this whole scene sounds like the Children’s Crusade of 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama. Demonstrators marching for civil rights were attacked by police dogs (which are more often than not German Shepherds) and blasted against the brick of buildings with water hoses.
The worst part is that Dr. Duroseau and his guests were allegedly attacked on his own property. He’s since filed a lawsuit against the Jane Doe and Mr. Rosebrock. At the moment, the incident isn’t being investigated as a hate crime.
