As more information is released about Bill Cosby’s deposition from a 2005 sexual assault civil case, one question many people have is, where exactly did Cosby get the Quaaludes he admitted drugging women with?
Simple answer: his gynecologist.
Referred to as “disco biscuits” by his attorneys, Cosby’s drug of choice was acquired by the comedian from Dr. Leroy Amar, a Hollywood gynecologist, according to the Washington Post. The newspaper reports that Amar prescribed the pills for Cosby’s sore back.
“Did he know when he gave you those prescriptions that you had no intention of taking them?” a lawyer asked Cosby during his 2005 deposition.
“Yes,” Cosby replied.
“Did you believe at that time that it was illegal for you to dispense those drugs?”
“Yes,” Cosby answered.
According to deposition documents, the Post reports, Amar confronted Cosby after finding out that Cosby allegedly assaulted a friend of his, Tamara Green. Cosby denied the account.
Amar’s background wasn’t squeaky clean, either. From countless claims of gross incompetence and negligence, which led to his having his license revoked; cases of plastic surgeries gone wrong once he switched to that field; and tax evasion, the Howard University graduate, who died in 2002, left behind a career shrouded in controversy.
