Beyoncé’s country music era might be her most iconic yet thanks to a major cosign she received from one of the genres biggest and most beloved legends: Dolly Parton.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the “Jolene” singer weighed in on the conversation surrounding Bey’s latest country singles, “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold’em,” showing nothing but love to the “Renaissance” artist.
“I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album. So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single,” Parton said, referencing Bey’s latest history making feat as “Texas Hold’em’s” success made her the first Black woman artist with a number one country song.
“Can’t wait to hear the full album.”
Okay, that’s it, everyone else can really pack up their opinions now. Thee queen of country has spoken and bestowed her blessing — the rest of you naysayers can go home!
With Parton’s cosign, one wonders if we’ll see a joint musical collab from them soon. And if you had any doubts on if either artist would be open to doing so, the “In the Sweet By and By” singer already expressed the desire to redo “Jolene” with Bey in an interview with Etalk back in December.
“Oh that would be great, I might do it just for that reason. I love her, I’d be honored,” Parton said when asked about her and Queen Bey covering the song.
“If not I’ll go drag her down and make her sing anyhow. ‘You get down here and sing with me girl!’” Parton quipped.
Well, Yoncé, you heard Dolly! The Yee-Haw Agenda is calling and we hope you answer! (We know you will.)
