The Web is buzzing with news that Beyoncé Knowles will no longer be managed by her father, Mathew Knowles, her publicist said Monday. The Grammy-winning singer and her father have parted ways "on a business level," publicist Yvette Noel-Schure told the Associated Press in a statement.
"I am grateful for everything he has taught me," Beyoncé said in the statement. "I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs, and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."
Knowles managed all aspects of Beyoncé's career, from music to movies to fashion and perfume. She has won 16 Grammy awards and appeared in the top-grossing films Dreamgirls and Obsessed, not to mention her critically acclaimed performance in Cadillac Records as Etta James.
First Kelly Rowland and now Beyoncé. Change is in the air, and Matthew Knowles is officially a footnote in the rise of Destiny's Child and Beyoncé. Luckily, their personal relationship will continue, and that's all that really matters.
