Rhonda McCullough, the widow of comedian-actor Bernie Mac, has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against his longtime doctor Rene M. Earles. The suit alleges that Earles, a dermatologist, did not recognize that the comedian was in respiratory failure during his visit. McCullough alleges that Earles kept him there for hours instead of immediately calling for an ambulance. Earles maintains that he treated Mac that day. When he learned that Mac was under the care of another physician for pneumonia in both lungs, Earles immediately advised him to go to the hospital. He alleges that Mac left his office and headed to the hospital in a chauffer-driven vehicle. Whatever the details or the outcome of the suit, one of the funniest comedians ever is gone, and that's no laughing matter.
