Retired neurosurgeon-turned-GOP star Ben Carson is reportedly considering a presidential run—or at the very least is willing to listen to his fan base on the issue, the Daily Caller reports.

"As far as my running for public office, it was never my intention. I thought when I retired, I was going to play golf and learn how to play the organ," Carson told Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg, the Caller notes. "But obviously the good Lord had a different plan for me. And I will obviously listen, but that is not what I really had intended to do."

The "National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee" has popped up, urging Carson to seriously consider running. The committee has raised more than $1 million, and the petition asking Carson to run has more than 200,000 signatures, the Caller reports.

However, even though he may seriously be considering a run, Carson has one other calling that he is keeping up with. "My job right now is to try to make sure that the American people have their eyes open and recognize what is happening and understand that we the people are not each other’s enemies," he said on the show. "The enemies are those people jerking everybody’s chains and trying to make them think they are enemies and driving in wedges at any particular crack, divide and conquer."
