During the MTV Video Awards, Kanye West announced his 2020 presidential bid. Whereas most people assumed it was the weed talking, West is seriously looking into running. What would a West presidential campaign look like? Last week West gave some indication that he plans to reinvent the process.
"When I run for president, I'd prefer not to run against someone," West stated. "I would be like, 'I want to work with you,' " he continued. "I think all the people running right now have something that each of the others needs. But the idea of this separation and this gladiator battle takes away from the main focus that the world needs help and the world needs all the people in a position of power or influence to come together."
West also mentioned his love for presidential hopeful Ben Carson, who is slowly creeping up on Donald Trump's tail on the Republican card.
"As soon as I heard Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like, 'This is the most brilliant guy,' " West said.
Well, West actually did get Carson on the phone, and the conversation apparently didn't go that badly.
"I did have an opportunity to talk with him," Carson said in an interview with ABC. "I was extremely impressed with his business acumen. He knows a lot about business. I talked to him about the possibility of maybe himself and some of the other people in pop culture doing some music that might be uplifting that might give young women a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility. I think it could be a tremendous thing in our society."
Could there be a possible West and Carson card in 2020? Who knows? But if it happens, it would prove once again that anything is possible in the world of politics, especially since we already have Trump as a contender.
