Dear Readers of The Root,

Let me take this opportunity to tell you how excited I am about our home page redesign, which launched on July 21.

Over the past three years, we have worked hard to make The Root the premier news and information site with an African-American perspective. The amount of quality content has grown steadily, with our unique take on breaking news, solid analysis, video interviews and photo galleries and our weekly podcast, The Confab. You've rewarded us by making us the most-read black news-and-opinion site.

We realized some months ago that we had outgrown the home page design that has served us well over the past several years. We needed a fresh look to make our content more easily accessible, make you more aware of what we have to offer and make it simpler to keep up with the constantly updated content on The Root. Our designers and editors went to work on this project at the beginning of the year, and now you can see the results.

It's lively, colorful and efficient. I believe that you will find it much easier to navigate The Root, and you'll have better-than-ever access to the excellent reporting, thoughtful analysis and probing interviews that have made you a loyal reader of The Root. Let me know what you think. Send an email to therootstaff@theroot.com.
