A violent altercation allegedly took place at a Wendy’s restaurant in St. Missouri last week. An employee of the fast food chain was reportedly involved in a fight with a drive-thru customer. During the altercation, the employee took the customer’s vehicle and allegedly drove into them.
A probable cause statement from the Overland Police Department was released and revealed that the incident happened on February 5 in the 8900 block of Page Avenue. Authorities were called to the Wendy’s for a fight that was already in progress.
When the police made it to the scene, they first encountered the victim who stated that he got into an argument with the worker while in the drive-thru lane. The employee was later identified as Leon S. Johnson.
Johnson allegedly left the store and started punching the victim while they sat in their car. The victim also told authorities that he took a hammer from his car and started wielding it to defend himself against Johnson.
The victim got out of the car with the hammer, which allowed Johnson to jump inside and drive off. Johnson reportedly came back to the restaurant and hit the victim with their own vehicle. Johnson then exited the victim’s car, picked up the hammer and began hitting the victim with it.
Police stated that Johnson confessed to taking the vehicle and striking them with it. When officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he allegedly bit the two police officers. Johnson was jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged him with first-degree assault, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, third-degree assault, second-degree property damage, resisting arrest for a felony, and two counts of fourth-degree assault.
