A comeback Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover, a Life-Size reboot, and an amusement park called Modelland, oh, my!

Tyra Banks has seemingly been in “can’t stop, won’t stop” mode during the past year or so (did we mention she published her third book last April?), with no sign of stopping anytime soon. According to People, the supermodel and serial entrepreneur’s next project will be a 2020 body-positive docuseries called Beauty.

The show will premiere on Quibi, the same entertainment platform set to produce a series on sneaker culture with Lena Waithe when it launches in April of next year. As noted in a press release obtained by People, Beauty will attempt to “break down barriers” and “challenge traditional notions” of beauty.

“As I look into the future, I see radical changes in both how people ‘attain beauty,’ and how the world perceives beauty,” Banks said in a statement. “Our docuseries aims to expand and redefine the definition of beauty as we know it, challenging why we accept certain beauty parameters and reject others, and examining the beliefs behind those judgments.”

Speaking of expanding definitions, Banks also touched on her recent rebranding as the mononym BanX, as CNN reported in May.

“[U]sually models use their first names, like Iman. I want to flip the script and go by my last name,” she explained. “I’m taking something familiar and making it new. I’m wiser now and thicker.”

“BanX is me, but she’s also every woman,” she continued. “BanX represents rebirth, and that beauty boundaries only exist to be broken.”

It’ll be interesting to see if BanX (or Modelland, for that matter) will catch on with the mogul’s longtime fans, but clearly, breaking barriers is a strong theme for BanX these days. The 45-year-old is continuing to defy expectations decades into the game, and like it, love it, or confused by it, there’s definite Beauty in that.
