Serena Williams has her mind set on returning to tennis by January, but that, of course, is after she gives birth to her new baby. In an article in this month’s Vanity Fair, Williams was photographed by Annie Leibovitz and spoke about her romance with her fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian; their upcoming wedding; and, of course, the impending birth.
“This big guy comes and he just plops down at the table next to us, and I’m like, ‘Huh! All these tables and he’s sitting here?’” Williams recalled after meeting Ohanian for the first time in Rome.
Williams went on to say that when they first met, Ohanian was a bit hung over after hanging out with his friend Kristen Wiig. Ironically, Williams had no clue what Reddit was, and the only thing Ohanian knew about tennis was that Williams played it. He had no clue about the rules of the game.
But their lack of knowledge about each other’s career didn’t stop them from falling in love.
“I knew it was coming,” Williams said about their engagement. “I was like, ‘Serena, you’re 35, you’re ready. This is what you want.’”
