She may not be the Williams sister most likely to be seen on a magazine cover, but don’t sleep on Venus Williams. At 38, she’s still competing (at Wimbledon, as we speak) and is still ranked 9th in the world in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association.
So, it’s safe to say that Venus Williams knows a bit about fitness, and when she appeared on Vogue’s YouTube channel to share some of her favorite moves, we eagerly tuned in.
Refreshingly, Williams’ routine (aside from bounding around the court) consists of good old-fashioned calisthenics—you know, squats, crunches, leg lifts and the like. In less than 90 seconds, Williams gives us the basics on how she maintains her beach body in the off-season (she lives in Florida, so she considers it a necessity), using basic equipment like an exercise ball, medicine ball and hand-weights.
Now, we’re not naive enough to think that a few crunches is all it takes to get a body like a Williams sister. But it is nice to know that Venus has a relatively easy and relatable routine that, for the most part, can be accomplished almost anywhere (sans equipment, of course)—and clearly gives incredible results.
