(The Root) — Rep. Michele Bachmann accused President Obama of peddling "crack cocaine" health care to American citizens in an interview with the conservative site WorldNetDaily.
"I think the reason is because President Obama can't wait to get Americans addicted to the crack cocaine of dependency on more government health care," the Minnesota Republican said, according to the site. "Because once they enroll millions of more individual Americans, it will be virtually impossible for us to pull these benefits back from people."
The congresswoman also accused Obamacare exchanges, where health insurance enrollment became available on Tuesday, of being "untrustworthy" and unable to secure patient data.
""They don't even have an ability to secure the data. They aren't even attempting to secure the data," she said. "In Minnesota, they've already proved they are untrustworthy. They haven't beta-tested security systems. They are completely unprepared to go forward.
"They're trying to fly a plane they haven't even built yet," she added.
Though some people trying to sign up for health care have been bogged down by a few glitches (some of it actually to do with Web traffic), about 2.8 million people have already visited HealthCare.gov since its official launching, showing public curiosity at the very least, with many signing up.
Though Bachmann voted against the House resolution to delay Obamacare because she wanted the law completely taken down, in her interview she claimed that she was all for defunding or delaying it if it means it can put a wrench in the clogs of the system.
"Now is the time to put it out of its misery," Bachman she told WorldNetDaily. "We have to do what we can do. Whether that means defunding it instead of repealing it, I'm for it. If it means delaying it rather than repealing it, I'm for it."
