Updated: Thursday, July 12, 2018, 6:10 p.m. EDT: According to TMZ, Minaj did not send a gift, after all—or at least, not one from Petit Trésor. Despite multiple reports that a source from the boutique had confirmed the gift, TMZ reports:
Sources with direct knowledge tell us Cardi’s team reached out to the famed WeHo baby boutique after reading a report claiming Nicki had snapped up a $5,000 basket and sent it to Cardi after hearing she’d given birth to Kulture.
We’re told Cardi’s camp called Petit—there’s only one location—looking for a tracking number for Nicki’s gift, because Cardi’s been flooded with presents. However, they were told by the store’s owner ... Nicki had NOT purchased anything.
TMZ also called the store, which confirmed that nothing at all was purchased by Minaj’s camp.
Admittedly, we’re disappointed, because we loved this woman-friendly tale of support and celebration. But unfortunately, at the moment, it’s just that—a fairytale.
Earlier:
Seems everyone is celebrating the arrival of the “Bardi baby;” Page Six reports that Nicki Minaj, who notoriously renewed beef with Cardi B in April with last-minute lyrical changes to their collaboration on “Motorsport,” sent a $5,000 gift basket to celebrate the birth of daughter Kulture Kiari, born on Tuesday.
The luxury gift basket, which was reportedly purchased mere minutes after the birth announcement and requested to be “as girly as possible,” was from upscale children’s boutique Petit Trésor in Los Angeles. A favorite among the celebrity set, each basket is one-of-a-kind, personally assembled by a member of the staff and comprised of bestselling items, including clothing, stuffed toys, baby books, picture frames, gifts for the new mom and always, a sterling silver rattle.
And apparently, Minaj is in good company; the Blast reports that according to sources at the boutique, approximately two dozen similar orders have been sent to Cardi and Offset since the birth was made public.
Of course, as much as we applaud Minaj for taking the high road and honoring this special moment, there were already hints that the two rap divas had already kissed and made up—literally. Mere weeks after the “Motorsport” dustup, the two were seen being friendly at in April’s Met Gala. So, maybe that basket was from “Auntie Nicki”?
