We’ve all rejoiced in watching Jamie Foxx’s recovery from his “medical complication.” His return to host “Beat Shazam” alongside his daughter, Corinne Foxx, has been beautiful and inspiring. She’s been by her dad’s side throughout his health issues, so she knows better than anyone how hard he’s worked to get back to being the hilarious, enthusiastic entertainer we all love.
She recently told Entertainment Tonight that “He’s doing amazing.” In fact, her Oscar-winning father is “doing so great,” he’s gone all in on a new obsession.
“He’s playing a lot of pickleball! That man and pickleball; it’s like he’s playing twice a day every day,” she said. “It’s a whole thing. He’s fully in it.”
When he’s not on the pickleball court, he’s closely involved in the planning for Corinne’s upcoming nuptials. While she’s desperately trying to talk him out of arriving on a horse, she knows that keeping him from taking over the mic during the reception is a lost cause.
“It’s gonna be a big one,” she said. “When I asked my dad for his list, he told me he has 300 people alone. I said we’re gonna have to cut down a little bit!”
We know the “Blame It” singer loves a party, but 300 people? That’s way too many guests. At least Corinne doesn’t have to worry about her father getting along with her groom-to-be. Her fiancé, Joe Hooten, won over Jamie’s approval with his heroics during a family vacation in Hawaii.
“We were in Hawaii on a snorkeling tour and none of my family knows how to swim,” she said. “So, we’re all in the middle of the ocean [and] everyone starts drowning. One by one, my fiancé dived in, brought some back, dived in, brought some back. My dad said, ‘He’s a keeper! He saved the family.’”
You can check out Corinne and Jamie’s hilarious banter on “Beat Shazam,” airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
