Indie filmmaker Ava DuVernay's I Will Follow is opening in theaters across the country today. The film that EURweb calls a "refreshingly rare treat which simply presents black folks in a recognizably realistic fashion," and that earned a thumbs-up from film critic Roger Ebert, explores how a family tragedy affects family members and what it takes to get through it. DuVernay made The Root 100 list for 2010 and is considered one to watch on the film scene. Did we mention that she has created a black film-distribution network through black film festivals?
