Bye, Kinja! It's been fun (occasionally).

Wow! I felt like you were flipping on light switches so I could see around the mess of my own home. Immediately forwarded to my partner so we could discuss later. Writing that inspires self-examination and meaningful conversation is invaluable. I just wanted to say thank you and I am excited to read more of your work!

Now playing

When the sitting president of the United States of America calls you a jackass... you’re probably a jackass.

Sarah Kendzior is the best, and if you aren’t reading her work, go look it up right now. RIGHT NOW.

Wow! Thank you! I’ve been asking over and over.. just what the hell is Trump? I don’t understand.. what would his diagnosis be? He’s such a big weirdo that I don’t understand on any level.

That’s one of the better posts I’ve read in a while.

You can view Kanye’s life and career very fondly if you think of him as having died shortly after ‘Watch the Throne’ came out, like I do.

Probably the best piece of writing I’ve read in years. It’s so rare when powerful insights are matched by such beautiful craftsmanship. My favorite example:

This is the clearest and most penetrating piece of analysis I have ever read on The Root and its sister sites. You have most accurately captured our moment as one of a profound, bottomless narcissism that, by definition, can never be fulfilled. I am not sure where this will end or what the reckoning will be when it

We are a country addicted to nostalgia, but with no regard for history.

Just like his buddy *45..two peas in a narcissistic pod.

And to T.D. William’s point, you could replace “Kanye” with “Trump” in your above comment and it would be just as true.

We are a country addicted to nostalgia, but with no regard for history. Nostalgia is history without moral reckoning; it keeps people pining for golden eras that never existed and anticipating a future that will never materialize.

Holy shit.

Duke showed up on Chris Matthews’s show a bit ago. You will of course believe me when I say it was both predictably cringeworthy and predictably HIGHlarious when Chris mangled the pronunciation of ‘M’Baku’. (Duke corrected him, kindly and in good humor.)

he IS beautiful. loved him on person of interest, too. I feel like he could probably pick me up and carry me around, which is always a plus.

This interview makes me love him even more. He gets it.
