When Vashti Harrison’s book was published in 2017, *every* kid I knew got a copy! Including my then-19 year old! And I have one of my own!!

I thought Amelia Earhart was cool, too and I didn’t know who Harriet Tubman was until I saw A Woman Called Moses.  Cicely Tyson was cool, too.

Great read! It takes me back to the first time I read Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. It was the first time I read a book that made me feel truly three-dimensional, like there was more to me than just my race, gender, blood and bone! I do everything I can, to this day, to foster that feeling in
